CADET'S SUDDEN DEATH. THE LATE MR. PERCY BURN.
Mr. Percy Burn, cadet in the Hongkong Government service, died suddenly at the Government Civil Hospital on Wednes
day night. He felt unwell during the day and obtained leave of absence from his duties; in the evening he became worse and was taken to hospital by ambulance, in practically an unconscious condition. He died soon afterwards and the cause of death is stated to be acute malaria.
Mr. Buru lived in solitary bachelor quarters in Kennedy Road; he was of a reserved disposition and had few intimate friends. Educated at Oxford, he held the B.A degree, and those with whom he came in contact in the performance of his duties formed a high opinion of his intellectual powers. Mr. Burn arrived in the Colony in December, 1912, and, after learning Cantonese, he was attached, in March, 1915, to the Imports aud Exports Department, passing his final examina tion in that year. After a period of leave he went to the Supreme Court as Deputy Registrar and Accountant and a month ago was appointed assistant to the Secre tary for Chinese Affairs and Deputy Registrar of Mariages. Mr. Burn was only 32 years of age.
The funeral took place last evening at Happy Valley. The Rev. V. H. Copley Moyle, M.A., conducted the funeral ser-

Schofield, Mr. A. E. Wood, Mr. N. L. Smith, Mr. H. Green, Mr. G. R. Sayer, Mr. S. B. B. McElderry, Mr. O'Sullivan. Mr. E. L. Stainfield, Mr. M. Akbar and Mr. Khan.
